Snowcontrol Serie II… the real protagonist of the Tour

Here we are again! :)

We talked about the Tour, defining and telling you what will happen, we revealed who will be the participants… but the real protagonist didn’t have its well-deserved room yet!

Of course we already mentioned it… Winter Snowcontrol Serie II… but still we didn’t tell you that much about this new Pirelli winter tyre.
The Pirelli Research & Development Team projected the Snowcontrol Serie II to guarantee safety and reliability in every winter condition… not just when it snows (like a lot of people thinks relating to winter tyres)!
The R&D team thought about a flexible tyre, perfect for urban and extra-urban roads, for city cars (that’s why there are no Porsche and Lamborghini at the Tour!).

But let’s discover its main characteristics… and we promise we won’t use too many technical terms!
It’s equipped with the Interactive Brickwork Siping Technology: a specific sipe layout to achieve a more stable pattern in lateral and longitudinal directions, improving the behaviour on dry and wet surfaces and reducing the braking distance.

Thanks to its pattern design with two wide lateral grooves, the Snowcontrol Serie II provides a better and faster water and slush expulsion, guaranteeing more aquaplaning resistance (aquaplaning is a very dangerous phenomenon!), and a very good traction on snowy surfaces.
And you can get all of this together with good comfort while driving… so basically you won’t hear too much noise!
If anyway you wish to have more technical information, you can take a look at the Pirelli website!

The Tour’s participants will experience this product soon… and we hope you will do it too! :)
See you next time!

Stilfersjoch or Stelvio, the Tour of the Alps anyway

Hello!!

Today we are defining the routes for the two groups, which should be very similar, but when it comes to Alps’ mountain passes everything gets a little confused… did you know that the one called Rombo Pass in Italian, is instead called Timmelsjoch in German, while the Resia Pass is then called Reschenpass?!?!?
And the Stelvio Pass becomes Stilfersjoch!!

In the meantime we post a picture of the climb of the Stelvio Pass… luckily we will travel by car (obviously equipped with the Winter Snowcontrol Serie II :) ) and not riding a bike, but hey! Isn’t that an amazing view?

Have a nice weekend!!

Ps. Bloggersss… you still have time until Monday at 6.00 pm to apply for a trip across the mountains with us!!

Here in our offices we can feel the days passing by, as the beginning of the tour is just around the corner, the countdown box is raising adrenaline as well as our excitement. :)

It’s been more that one week since our project was launched, therefore we feel the need to address a couple of lines to the blogosphere and its protagonists.

Your feedback is massive and it is a great pleasure to receive so many e-mails!
Anyway, the selection is still open until Monday the 28th of September, so if you write for an automotive blog, you love cars, you speak English and you would like to leave with us for this journey, read carefully the page dedicated to you and send us an e-mail!!!

Today we are defining some points about which we will update you next week.
We will soon have some confirmations for a couple of activities and finally we will be able to explain you what will happen on Wednesday the 14th of October, when the two groups will leave from Milan and Munich, to meet each other and get to the heart of the Tour…

We are trying our best to organize this three days event, and honestly we are having fun doing it!
Commitment and creativity, let’s hope this will be the right mix for its success!

“Work in progress” continues… :)

Tour of the Alps in progress

Here we are! Hello! :)

This morning there was a crazy traffic jam on Viale Sarca, here in Milan… and the rain… and all the people rushing: what a great way for starting the week! :)
But what else could we expect from the first day of fall?

We got our daily coffee to survive the morning, and we gathered to define some points concerning the event.

As you read in the first post the Tour of the Alps is a three days event.
We think and hope you are a bit curious about it and you might wonder what exactly will happen in those three days…

No worries, we will make everything clearer, post after post.
We are now all together in the meeting room to define the last details for Tuesday the 13th October.
We have our laptops, papers and pens… and some craziness, which sometimes helps :)

You already know that the guests (bloggers and journalists) will be divided into two groups, one leaving from Munich and the other one from Milan: just the time for the presentations and we will be ready to start the trip to reach the Stelvio Pass!
To be more precise the group that will leave from Milan will have a stopover in Vizzola, to test the new Winter Snowcontrol Serie II on the track.
The group leaving from Munich will instead stop in Vizzola on the 15th October… but we will tell you about this in a couple of days, as we still have to define it completely.

The new Polo, the Fiat 500, the Panda 4×4, the Seat Leon, the Peugeot 308, the Mercedes class A… these are just some of the cars that our guest will find at their arrival in the airport, waiting for them, obviously equipped with the Winter Snowcontrol Serie II.
Ok, we are not talking of Lamborghini and Porsche… but still these cars are fairly more “human” and we will probably drive them more easily being more used to them! :)

Well, our meeting goes on, but we will update you on our decisions in a very short time. :)
See you soon!

Welcome to the official Tour of the Alps blog! Are you wondering what it is?
Tour of the Alps is the event that Pirelli is organizing to launch its new winter tyre, Snowcontrol Serie II.
Tour of the Alps will be a travelling adventure through which international journalists and guests will be able to experience the Winter Snowcontrol Serie II on different roads and weather conditions – perfect to test a new winter tyre.

Tour of the Alps will be a three days event: on the 13th of October guests will be divided into two groups, one group will leave from Munich with destination Milan and the other one will travel from Milan to Munich , with meeting point on the Stelvio Pass at 2.757m height on the 14th.October..
We are working on a calendar full of action and fun…and week after week we will update you on the work in progress. We are putting our effort on this…but also women, snow, five-a-side football, huskies!!

Now you are probably wondering who are the “lucky participants”?
There will be journalists of some automobile and lifestyle headings, and one official blogger for each country involved: Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
If you are a blogger and would like to join us, you should read the section above dedicated to you, and send us an e-mail…you could be with us on the Stelvio Pass :)

We hope that also those of you that won’t have the chance to be physically in the mountains, will follow us on these pages. Here you will see us working on the project, and how the project itself grows, step by step. Besides, you’ll get to know us very closely… so close that, who knows, you might even share coffee breaks with us :)

Well this is all for now, are you ready? We are.
Let’s gooo!
